Measure the route for oversized furniture. If the driveway or landscaping is still being completed, identify a safe, permitted route for carrying items into the home.
Make a Room-by-Room Plan
Label boxes by their destination room and decide where large furniture should be placed before unloading begins. Share a list of heavy, fragile, or unusually shaped items when requesting your estimate. If you need packing or unpacking help, include it in the requested work so the scope can be discussed in advance.
Prepare for Moving Day
Confirm the delivery date and access details with the builder or property manager before scheduling the crew. Check whether floors, stairways, or shared entrances need protection and who is responsible for providing it. Let the moving company know about any last-minute changes to parking or property access.
Keep keys, documents, medication, and the items you need that evening with you. Once unloading is complete, check that the agreed items have arrived and tell the crew about any placement questions before they leave.
